Coaching is best described as: ‘… unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them’.
Sir John Whitmore, author of Coaching for Performance

‘… a conversation, or a series of conversations, that one person has with another. An effective coaching conversation influences someone’s understanding, learning, behaviour and progress’.
-Julie Starr, author of The Coaching Manual

Coaching is a form of professional and/or personal development in which the coach supports a client or learner in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by using tools and techniques based around open-ended non-directive questions.

In coaching, the coach brings the process and the client brings the content. The coach has a set of skills, processes and tools to help the client but doesn’t have to have specialist knowledge of the role or field in which the client operates. Through the coach’s questioning the client is encouraged to find their own solutions.

I offer both business and personal coaching. I am an ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) Level 5 Qualified Coach and have worked coaching professionals within business settings as well as individuals on their own personal development programmes.
